White Marsh Mall is Making a Difference!

Through Celebrate Schools, White Marsh Mall is providing local classrooms a helping hand.

For the second year, White Marsh Mall is showing our passion for education by partnering with DonorsChoose.org for our Celebrate Schools program.  Through this partnership, White Marsh Mall is able to assist teachers in the Baltimore County / Harford County area with much-needed supplies and funding.  DonorsChoose.org is an online charity that makes it easy for anyone to help students in need.  Through this website, individual donors can connect directly with local public school classroom needs ranging from portable CD players so students can listen to stories (Vincent Farm Elementary School), to tablets with word processing and Internet searching capabilities for classroom projects (Magnolia Elementary School), to art supplies to encourage creativity (Garrett Heights Elementary).

Donors can browse project requests like these and are able to donate any amount to the project that speaks to them.  Once a project reaches its funding goal, DonorsChoose.org delivers the materials to the school.

In part of the Celebrate Schools campaign, White Marsh Mall will also host an in-mall event on Saturday, October 5, 2013 from 12pm-5PM.  Local area schools are invited to join forces to Celebrate Schools through special performances, fundraising activities and more.

But wait – there’s one more big thing to tell you!  White Marsh Mall’s parent company, General Growth Properties, is giving away $25,000 to one U.S. school.  Shoppers can nominate their school at the Club enrollment station located in Center Court on the lower level.  Joining The Club is free and from September 3 to October 25, it includes an opportunity to nominate a school to receive the $25,000 reward.  All eligible, nominated schools will be included in the national drawing to be announced by November 30, 2013.
