Offended by Christmas?

Believing we celebrate the birth of Christ, we should keep Christmas in the stores where we buy our Christmas presents. I am not offended by other religions. Why remove my choice?

For several years, the battle has raged over whether stores will post "Christmas" signs in their stores or ads.

It is Christ's birthday that we are celebrating on Dec. 25, right?  Is it fair to leave Christ out of his birthday.

Now before people crash my inbox, I will agree that a Happy Holidays is appropriate if you are saying that to someone to include Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. It may also be appropriate if you are not Christian.

But, if you are a Christian and you are speaking to someone you know is Christian, why not simply say Merry Christmas.

If stores want ME to buy CHRISTmas presents, then why not invite CHRISTians into your store to buy CHRISTmas presents!  If you want to invite them in for Hannukah, that's great too. I have no problem wishing my Jewish friends a Happy Hannukah. I have bought or made my share of Hannukah cards.

Someone said well what about Kwanzaa?

This is a week-long celebration initiated to FOLLOW CHRISTmas... not replace it.

What about other religions?  This is America.  Everyone can choose to celebrate whichever holiday they want.  WHY should their holiday supercede Christmas? America was founded by Christians, and even though our president said we are no longer a Christian country, the census bureau of statistics say otherwise.

Christians are the majority, and I feel safe in saying the Essex-Middle River is still predominantly a Christian community—largely Catholic. So, why not stand up for what offends us.  Let us NOT take CHRIST out of His birthday celebration on Dec. 25 and that includes putting our power of economics to work. Shop where they recognize WHY we are buying Christmas gifts.

Let us make a difference and keep Christ in Christmas (shopping too!)
