Third Time Is The Charm For Suspected Essex Robber

An Essex man was apprehended after attempting to rob a third store on Friday evening.

After fleeing two unsuccessful robbery attempts, police say an Essex man was caught after trying to rob a third Essex store in the span of less than 10 minutes.

William Frederick Siegman Jr., 43, of the 200 block of Elk Road in Essex, is charged with one count of armed robbery and two counts of robbery.

According to police, Siegman entered the Exxon station in the 100 block of Back River Neck Road at 6:51 p.m. on Friday. Siegman allegedly carried a steak knife and announced a robbery. According to the police incident summary, the cashiers at the Exxon station did not comply with his demands. When he tried to swipe change that a cashier was handing to a customer, the cashier brushed his hand away, put the money back in the drawer and pressed an alarm button to call police.

Just minutes later, according to police, Siegman entered Loft Liquors just across the street. He announced a robbery, implied he had a gun and, again, the cashier did not comply and threatened to call security over from the adjacent bar. He fled.

At 6:59 p.m., police say Siegman entered the 2nd Avenue Thrift Store in the unit block of Stemmers Run Road. He announced a robbery, implied that he had a gun and was given $15 from a store cash drawer. He left the store and was followed by staff, who detained him until police arrived.

Siegman is currently being held in the Baltimore County Detention Center in Towson on $150,000 bail, court records show. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 30.

I used to work with this person. I am very sad to see that this is what he has become. He used to be a really great coworker and I hope he can find his way.
