Four males are accused of luring the victim to a vacant home before allegedly assaulting him and stealing his money and pizza, police said.

A 34-year-old pizza deliveryman was assaulted and robbed by four males while attempting to make a delivery May 22 in Essex, police said.

The victim told police that he went to deliver two pizzas around 8:30 p.m. to a home in the 900 block of Sandalwood Road. When he arrived at the home, one of the males told him he would go get the money and be right back, according to police reports.

But moments later, the suspect pulled the victim into the residence—which was later discovered to be vacant—where he was joined by three other males who proceeded to assault the deliveryman, the report continued. The victim told police two of the males had wooden sticks, which they used to beat him in the stomach and legs.

According to the report, the suspects then stole $250 and two pizzas from the deliveryman. After that, one of the suspects pulled a couch on top of the victim and held him down until three of the suspects escaped. The fourth suspect then ran out a rear back door, police said.

The deliveryman told police that once he left the residence, he drove  around the block, identified the suspects standing outside and contacted police. Police then arrested four males—three juveniles and an 18-year-old man and charged them with armed robbery.

The juveniles were 16, 16 and 17 years old, respectively. The 18-year-old was identified as Shawn Carter, of the unit block of Rumelia Circle in Essex.
