I'd initially refer to it as White Marsh (21162), since it is in the first due response area for White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company. Businesses near this address have a Joppa (21085) zip code. Zip code maps show it as Kingsville (21087).

Now in the following article, calling it Kingsville is a far cry.

Mark,
What Zip Code map shows it in 21087? 21087 ends at the RR tracks. The 12200 block is all 21085.

Google Maps. But I just looked at several others and they show what you mention, so Google appears wrong.

What possible difference could it make whether the pedestrian was struck in Kingsville, White Marsh, Joppatowne, Middle River, wherever?
A person was hit by a car. That's what you should be discussing.

Other Tim,
To those of us who live in Kingsville, we don't want it reported that bad things are happening here when they are not.

Blaming drivers for stuff like this is stupid to me. If you're a pedestrian trying to cross a four lane highway, especially one that is not a residential street and you get hit by a car, I'm sorry, but that's your fault for not paying attention and not knowing how to cross a street. Pulaski highway is a straight road, no blind corners, just straight. If people knew how to cross the street, this stuff wouldn't happen. Of course, people don't respect the speed limits because they're too low, but unless you're devoid of common sense (which itself is more common than common sense), you can cross any street safely if you just use your brain. Too much to ask of people these days, it seems.

Regardless, I hope the person is okay and fully recovers. I don't know why we can't just say sometimes "Hey, you need to learn how to cross the street, dummy." Nope, always the driver's fault. Roads are for cars. As a person crossing the street, you should know this and respect roads just as you would respect a bear in the wilderness. You going to tread carefully around that bear (in the bear's territory) or are you going to run out in front of it? Christ..

How do you know that it was pedestrian error? The comment below by noseinabk2 mentions that the person was working on a bike well off the road and someone on a PHONE veered off and hit him. You cannot always cross any street safely. Even with the pedestrian crossing in my favor, right turning cars have ignored me as I stepped, legally, into the crosswalk to begin my crossing, so please. Roads are NOT just for cars. If so, there wouldn't be bike lanes and PEDESTRIAN crossings. Insane comment really, just insane.

If the person was on a phone, then they should be arrested and charged for it. Was there a pedestrian crossing? People ride bikes on roads without bike lanes all the time as well. So, cross where there's a crosswalk and you have the "crossing light" on or take your risks. If you want a ride a bike on a road without a bike lane, you take your risks as well. I'm so sick of this "always blame the driver" crap.

If it's true the person was on a cell phone that hit the pedestrian, who was well off the side of the road, then charge that person. The law should be harsher on people driving while on the phone than speeders, but I wonder what penalty the driver got? Anything on that situation?

The guy was a pretty good distance off the road, in the grass, working on his bicycle. Girl struck a pole or mail box and veered in to him and he was thrown into the road. Girl came stop, allegedly with phone still in hand.

Clarification It was a bicyclist that had stopped to make a repair on his bicycle.

The adult male was struck by a car that had driven off the road, striking other things, and was returning back onto the road when he was struck..

It occurred at 12226 Pulaski Highway, Joppa MD 21085 Though most in this area consider this Upper White Marsh or Lorely, it is actually Joppa.

The victim was flown via Trooper 1 (medevac) to Shock Trauma in Baltimore after being attended to by crews from WhiteMarsh and Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Companies as well as Crews from Station 12, Middle River.

Sounds pretty serious. If the law is truly just and this person was talking on a cell phone at the time of the incident, then the driver should be charged to the fullest extent, about the same as a drunk driver would be penalized. There's no excuse for a driver who drives in this manner because they are talking on a cell phone. Is it really all that different from driving drunk anyway? Let's see how the driver is dealt with, I am anxious to know.

the reason for the accident is for the police to investigate and determine. Speculation on the cause would be inappropriate. Many things such as sleep deprivation, phones, radios, medical conditions, mechanical failure, even reading or doing makeup , pot holes, the list is endless all can lead to distraction and or loss of control.

Reading or doing make up while driving? Geez, that's really no better. The only excuses there that would be viable, IMO, are medical conditions and mechanical failure. If the person has a medical condition and is not treating it or taking their medication, it might be a little different, though.

I hope the details come out, but somehow, I doubt they will. You would think something like mechanical failure would have been included in the article. If a tire blew out, for example, and caused this accident, that's and open and shut case really and I would think would be mentioned. I await further details, if we even get them.

Wow, if all of these people would put as much effort in telling the government that we are tired of the B/S they give us. then maybe Maryland would'nt be such a bad place to live.

Mike . Know a person who was present at the scene. Cant give away much. Just first hand account that the guy was chilling out after small bike repare. Maybe he was watching the local bge guys replace a pole. Maybe the guy was sitting in the grass taking pictures. Maybe the Pos driver was not paying attention and lost control, hit a mailbox, went off road and hit guy. However the driver who did not have the smarts to hit her brakes also did not ever let go of her phone as it was in her hand when she came to a stop. Sorry if sloppy post but suxs posting on mobile. Again,jf anyone has info to find this poor guy or knows how to get it pm me .
update pm me.

Why can't you give away much? I don't understand.

A ticket for negligent driving and an additional ticket for the cell phone? Wow, really coming down hard on the REAL dangerous drivers, aren't we? All people want to do is talk about speeding this, speeding that, blah blah. Talking on your cell phone while driving is just as much of a hazard as a drunk driver is. This isn't exactly knocking the consequence nail home for the law against using your cell phone while driving, is it? I know, why don't we put up more speed cameras because that will solve *everything*. What a joke.

Assuming of course, that what you are saying is true.

I may be wrong, but this person asking for info sounds like they may have been the one driving and texting. Guilt can be an ugly thing. Hope that I am wrong.

Me? Wow, talk about making wild assumptions. I can't question his source without being accused of such atrocities? Pretty lame. He has claimed twice now to have inside information and it's not coming from the police, so why wouldn't I question him before replying to his claims? Ridiculous.

I was referring to the other person Nose.... something. any how, why would someone say they have inside info then not give up details when asked. people post on this thing and get someones atttention then want to keep secrets. if they saw anything that happened then they should be willing to share this info so others will know that there are this type of person in our neighborhoods. total desreguard for others and life itself.

Ohh, well you said the person "asking" for information, not giving information. I was the only one asking, my bad then.

I was wondering that, too. It seems weird that he "didn't want to give away too much", why would you say that? He could be involved or maybe he's a police officer or something. Either way, I found that odd as well. If I was the one there gathering information, I'd spill it all for everyone to know.

Hey guys,

I did get a chance to touch base with police. No information from police on how the cyclist is doing. But I did confirm some details of what people were hearing.

You all say the same things about every article! It's like a tape recorder. I only check to see what may be affecting my neighborhood, [ossibly things that may not be in the article, that have been discovered. AND I don't comment on every darn thing I read. that's my complaint, the same people b***h about anything and everything. Get a life. I actually do things besides read and comment on here, do you?

Then don't read it and stop whining like a big baby. The people who comment a lot care about their community and have something to say about things that happen in it, that's the whole point of this website. All you've done is whine and complain about the people posting. Don't read it, then. You contribute nothing to the conversation. Go life your amazingly interesting life, what are you even doing on the internet? Don't like what you read? Don't read it and stop whining and crying ya big baby.

I am the driver who hit this innocent man. I was not talking or texting on my cell phone. I grabbed my phone while exiting my car to call 911, I did not know what i had hit so I looked at the front of my vehicle when i then realized it was a human being. I was in complete shock. Several people had already came to his aid. I was so afraid to even get close to this person i had struck, seeing that he was severely injured. I have prayed for this gentleman everyday and thank the lord he has survived. I am extremely haunted by this nightmare which is my own reality every second. I was extremely fatigued that morning and will deal with this guilt and shame for the rest of my life. I pray that God gives him and his family the strength they need to recover from this so painful and regretful accident.
