Man Injured After Jump From Key Bridge
The U.S. Coast Guard handled the Saturday morning call.
A 45-year-old man was rescued from the water Saturday morning after jumping from the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
Around 8:26 a.m. a fishing boat found a 45-year-old man in the water near the Francis Scott Key Bridge, Petty Officer John Lindberg, spokesman for the U.S. Coast Guard, said Saturday morning.
The boat brought the man to the Fort Armistead Pier where Coast Guard crews met them. The man was suffering from a broken ankle and back pain and Baltimore County emergency medical personnell transported him to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment, Lindberg said.
"He admitted to jumping off [the bridge]," Lindberg said.

A proverbial feat. "Jumping off the bridge" has been made famous by those in trouble. I'm sure this man has trouble. Now on with the lighter news...

I've always considered suicide a very poor way to deal with problems in one's life. And I realize there are those who cannot muster the inner strength to deal with their problems. It is important for all to remember that we are all God's creations and as such have a responsibility to Him as well as ourselves. We are placed here for a reason and suicide is a short-circuit to personal growth. More important anyone else considering suicide that there are resources available (albeit sometimes a bit difficult to locate) but non-the-less possible. If you find yourself caught up in your problems to the degree that you are even remotely thinking of this type solution than perhaps you should begin to seek out others who can at least listen and talk you down. Nothing and I meant no thing is worth taking your life under any circumstances. And if you know someone who is down please take the time to try and communicate with them and let them know you are available.

The fishing boat was NOT the first ones on the scene. A safety boat with Captain Linda Morgan(yes Capt. Morgan) witnessed the jump, phoned for help, rushed to him, threw him a life ring and held him above water saving the man. She called for help and the guys in the fishing were nearby and helped get him out of the cold water and into their boat. She needs to be recognized as the hero in this near tragic event. She has been traumatized by this as well.
Good luck to all involved. Jack Stuprich

David White: I hope one day if you need help, someone decides to "mind their own business." The man in this article is a close releative of mine. Why don't you mind your own business and keep your insensitive comments to yourself you A*#hole!!!!!

To all: This is Captain Morgan
To the freinds and family; please hang in there with him. This event has deeply touched my life and I wish the best to all involved.
Dave White, I'm speechless reading your comment, I was doing my job. How did I know it was not an accident. Although that would NOT have made a difference to me. I did what any responsible person would have done in this situation. Sorry you don't qualify.

I am at a crossroads...I have been contemplating the jump myself...I just want to make sure it would work. I can't survive because I will be in trouble...how do I make sure it works.

I am serious, why people respond to some things and help and yet ignore other things and refuse to help is my major source of dissatisfaction with life. It is true that we are all God's creation and that somehow, despite our sinfulness God still loves us and cares for us. But did God ever say that suffering is His will? NO, I think we bring suffering upon ourselves and a lot of it is the result of what we've experienced. I was sexually assaulted while in the Navy and the shame and guilt, the pain and suffering and the ensuing mental illness has led me to think that killing myself is the only possible solution. None of us can know the level of suffering or degree of suffering in another, and yet so many of us presume to know by saying a suicide is just an excuse, an escape from reality and the sign of a coward and very weak person. Well, all I have to say is dare my friend to walk a mile in my shoes, or better yet come visit me and stay for 24 hours, and if you aren't sick of me in that time I will give you a prize. Cowardice is something the Tsarnaev brothers did in Boston, suffering is something I do 24/7 if you want to know about it and are really interested, just reply I will send you one of my email addresses and we can talk. Right now either the Bay Bridge or the Key Bridge are my preferred methods to go, it just I need to know if I will succeed. We have to listen and we have to empathize with the suffering we hear from others. Thanks.
