A Baltimore man, who police say is being investigated regarding nearly a dozen break-ins in Essex, was arrested and charged Monday in connection with an apartment burglary.

Edward Turner, 45, who police said is from the 800 block of North Wood Street in Baltimore, is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center in Towson on $100,000 bail after being charged with several counts related to the most recent burglary, county police spokeswoman Detective Cathy Batton said.

According to police reports, investigators caught Turner around 6:30 p.m. Monday, about three hours after the victim reported someone stole a shotgun, a laptop and a case of DVDs from his apartment in the 1300 block of Sugarwood Circle.

The break-in at Sugarwood Circle resembled many other burglaries reported in the community over the last month, Batton said.

In just about every case, according to police reports, the burglar pried open a rear door or window before making off with electronics, Captain Steven Hlavach of the Esseex Precinct said.

In the latest case, according to police reports, multiple 911 calls were made reporting a suspicious person in the area of Sugarwood Circle and Cedar Valley Place. Officers, along with K9 units, patrolled the area before eventually discovering Turner in nearby woods, the report continued.

When police found Turner, he allegedly had the stolen items from the latest burglary with him. He later admitted to that burglary, while being questioned by investigators, according to the report.

Batton said police are investigating whether Turner is linked to the other reported break-ins in the community.

At least two of the most recent break-ins also occurred in the 1300 block of Sugarwood Circle. Police described the details of those burglaries.

• Two gold chain necklaces, a gold pocket watch, a gold watch, a camera, stereo and home phone system were stolen from an apartment between 6:30 p.m. Jan. 31 and 2:10 p.m. Feb. 1. Total loss was $2,670.
• A desktop computer, Bose speakers, video camera, two DVD players, a Blu-ray player and a 32-inch TV were stolen from an apartment between 2 p.m. Jan. 24 and noon Jan. 30. Total loss was $3,500.
