Letter: Unfair Bonuses For Execs of Former Sparrows Point Owner
After some steelworkers were denied their retirement bonus, RG Steel is petitioning a court to allow it to pay $767,000 in bonuses to 21 employees.
After RG Steel Co. laid off 2,000 workers, then filed for bankruptcy protection, they now want to reward 21 of the company's remaining employees with $767,000 in bonuses and health insurance. This will come about if the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, DE agrees.
It's unbelievable that this kind of thing is happening and not one politician in our great state of Maryland has stepped up to the plate and said enough is enough and put a stop to this company jumping behind bankruptcy protection and rewarding their chosen ones!

If that happens, the bankruptcy court should be strung up by their thumbs. That money should be given to the workers who were laid off and robbed of their pensions. While the amount wouldn't be that great it's better than nothing. If that is $767,000 per each of the 21 remaining employees which is the way I read it, that would be $8053.50 for each 2000 workers. It would help pay the bills for a month or 2. Someone needs to stand up for these workers and let big business know that we, the middle class, aren't going to stand by and just take it anymore.
