Last-Minute Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Mother's Day is right around the corner, but it's still not too late to wow the ones you love with a great gift

OK, you knew for weeks that Mother's Day was this Sunday. However, you still have yet to find that perfect way to say "I love you, Mom."

Don't sweat it. Patch has five places where you can go to purchase that last minute gift that could be the perfect for you mom, grandmom, wife or other relative.

Info: Features a 7,000-square-foot greenhouse, open to the public selling annuals, perennials, and vegetable plants, including a great selection of hanging baskets, herbs and perennials. They stock several exotic varieties of basil, thyme and mint, as well as the good old fashioned ones. Your mom or grandmom would love to have a collection of these herbs, and you can enjoy the delicious delicacies that she cooks using them. The staff at Richardson's five other greenhouses start seedlings locally, allowing them to offer much lower priced than even the big box stores. Your mom or wife would love the locally grown hanging baskets and pots.

  • Children’s Playhouse of Maryland at the Community College of Baltimore County, Essex,

    The Sound of Music opens at the Community College of Baltimore County Essex, at 1 p.m. weekends May 7-8, in the J Building Lecture Hall. Tickets are $10 general admission and available from the CCBC Box Office at 443-840-ARTS (2787) Take your mom, grandmom, wife and kids to this performance on its opening weekend. The play will run the following two weekends.

    Visit Hampton on Mother's Day for a free 20 minute carriage ride around the grounds of Hampton National Historic Site. Free tickets are distributed by park staff on the day of the ride. Tickets are typically distributed at noon on a first come-first served basis. The rides start at 12:30 p.m.. Rides are offered every 20 minutes from 1 to 4 p.m. Take your family on a trip back in time as you ride in a period carriage around the grounds of this sedate Georgian mansion, elegantly furnished and settled amid gardens and shade trees. Built as a country seat just after the Revolutionary War by a prominent Maryland family, the house and its immediate surroundings are just a remnant of the Hampton estate of the early 1800s.
