Night work is expected to disrupt traffic in the White Marsh area late Sunday night into Monday morning.

Weather permitting, between 10 p.m. on Jan. 27 and 5 a.m. on Jan. 28, Exit 67B from southbound Interstate 95 to westbound Maryland Route 43 (White Marsh Boulevard) will be temporarily closed, Maryland Transportation Authority officials announced.

A detour will direct drivers to eastbound MD Route 43 (Exit  67A), to eastbound MD 7, to westbound MD 43.

The work is part of the ongoing I-95 Express Toll Lanes Project

The White Marsh portion of the project carries a $142.6 million price tag and is expected to create 400 new jobs. The total project, which stretches from north of White Marsh along I-95 to south of the Interstate 895/Moravia Road interchange, will cost $1.03 billion and is expected to be finished by 2014, according to the MdTA.

The ultimate goal of the project is to provide additional highway lanes, where drivers can avoid some I-95 traffic back-ups. When complete, drivers may travel on existing lanes of I-95 at no additional cost, or may use express lanes by paying a toll.

How have traffic changes impacted your commute? Is the project a positive or negative development? Tell us in the comments.

The new double merge on the southbound ramp on I-95 from White Marsh Blvd eastbound is dangerous.

It is, no merge area with heavy flow of traffic from 43 onto 95S with the others trying to merge....ahhh best design ever.

That totally took me by surprise the first time I used it and was truly thinking "ahead" to the 95 merge itself, not two lanes merging to get ON 95. Luckily, no one was using the left part of the merge and I was spared what could have been an accident deemed my fault. Thankfully, I have been driving much slower through that area as most of us have due to the changes and crews.
