A team second-year respiratory therapist students at the Community College of Baltimore County recently placed second in the field's National Academic Competition in Las Vegas.

Kevin Abbott, of Catonsville, Ben Mellies, of Owings Mills, and Rebecca Sonn of Forest Hill,  are student members of the MD/DC Society for Respiratory Care, and were one of 22 team nationaly entered in the competition.

 To advance to the championship game, the team completed two days of preliminary rounds where they answered questions on the history of the profession, anatomy and physiology, fundamental therapies, advanced therapies,  and disease pathophysiology.
